TPO Roofing in Spring Hill, KS
Understand TPO membrane seams, curbs and repair limits before planning commercial roof work.
TPO uses welded thermoplastic connections
TPO is a thermoplastic single-ply roof membrane. Its field seams are heat welded, so a repair needs compatible material and the existing surface prepared for a sound connection. Dirt, weathering and surface treatments affect the preparation.
The membrane is only one part of the assembly. Insulation, attachment, the deck and drainage influence whether a local welded repair, wider renewal or replacement is useful. Water below a small split can extend beyond the visible surface mark.

Where TPO assessment concentrates
Seams and the interruptions in the continuous surface deserve different details.
- Field seams
Open or damaged seams need the actual condition and weldability checked. A surface bead of caulk is not a substitute for the specified seam connection.
- Curbs and penetrations
Equipment curbs, pipes and corners need compatible flashings that accommodate the roof and equipment geometry. Loose or damaged terminations can admit water.
- Attachment and wet insulation
A repair needs a stable assembly beneath it. Wet insulation and attachment failure change the area and layers to remove.
Repair, restore or replace TPO
The choice follows system condition, rather than a membrane name alone.
- Localized work
A serviceable dry roof with a compatible repair location can support focused seam or flashing work.
- Wider scope
Widespread deterioration, trapped moisture and drainage failures need a broader plan. Any coating must be explicitly compatible and suitable for the existing membrane.
